“A good image forces the beholder to stop and engage with it”, says Klaus Bossemeyer. The 25-year veteran of reportage photography should know: he’s travelled the world taking pictures, often hauling up to 35 kilograms of equipment with him. That was until he discovered the Four Thirds-based E-System which cut his load in half. Now he’s trying out the system’s newest addition, the Olympus E-3, and he likes what he sees.
Klaus Bossemeyer is the quintessential all-round photojournalist. He’s produced work for countless international magazines and has a thing or two to say about the value of a camera as versatile as the E-3. He describes its advantages during a session in a dimly-lit basement in Istanbul: “In this location, the most important feature of the new camera is the new wireless remote control flash system. I use the new flash system here because I don’t want to disturb the atmosphere”, says Bossemeyer. “Another important feature is the image stabiliser. I’m sure that image stabilisation will change the language of photography.”
